1. Plan your Trip to Machu Picchu

We recommend to arrive in Cusco at least one day before your tour to Machu Picchu starts. It’s necessary to leave very early in the morning from Cusco. The road from Cusco to Machu Picchu is combined by different means of transport. Car/VAN, Tran, and Car/VAN again.

2. Briefing

A guide will meet you at your hotel in Cusco the day before of the Tour for a complete information session. All itineraries will be explained in detail.

3. Service Starts in the City of Cusco

Pick you up from your hotel in the city of Cusco will be 1 hour before the departure of your train. The transfer will take you to the Train Station located in the little village of Poroy (30 minutes), then you will board the train of the company “Peru Rail” and begin a 4 hours journey from Poroy (Cusco) to the town of Aguas Calientes (2000 m).

4. Arrival at Aguas Calientes

After arrival at Aguas Calientes Train Station, there will be some time to walk around the village and have a snack. At 11:30 AM from the local Bus Station, we will start a 30-minute journey by an ascending zigzagging road up to the incredible world wonder “The Sanctuary of Machu Picchu”, known as “The Lost City of the Incas”.

5. Welcome to Machu Picchu

Once arrive at Machu Picchu we will pass through the checkpoint where you will deliver your ticket. At this point, by 12:00hs (noon) the Guided Tour Starts. You will be able to visit the main areas of the City such as the Main Square, Circular Tower, Sacred Solar Clock, Royal Rooms, Temple of Three Windows, and cemeteries. The guided sightseeing will last more than two hours. At the end you will have free time to take a stroll through the citadel or if you want to have lunch at the Hotel Sanctuary Lodge. Another option for this free time will be to return by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes for lunch in one of the many restaurants. (Lunch is not included in the package).

6. Return to Cusco

In the afternoon you will take the train back (please show up at the Station 30 min before the departure time of your train), The return will follow the same route as the one-way trip, upon arriving at the train station, a driver will be waiting for you Take it to your hotel.
